Maputo 2011 - All Africa Games

Dear Prayer Warriors,

On Wednesday, we had a planned visit to a church in the City of Maputo and expected 50 children to attend. Praise the Lord. There were approximately 400 children that participated in the children’s games, received the gospel message and were welcomed outside to refreshments.

In the evening, the Group went out to test the local cuisine and on the way back, Bernie was pulled-over for a faulty light and no licence and car documents in his possession. The traffic officer wanted to fine us 4 000 Meticais (R1 000). Bernie fetched his documents from home and returned to the patrol area. The police officer still insisted we pay the ‘fine’ to him and when we asked him for the official ticket to go and pay at the local police station, he basically suggested the fine be reduced to 200 Meticais. We insisted that he issue the original fine amount which he then cancelled and accepted our gift of a Bible. Our translator, Mathew, ministered the Gospel and presented him with the Bible.

Genesis :  50:20    You intended to harm me but God intended it all for good.

What a blessing the busy morning on Thursday was. Twenty five Youth Leaders from different church denominations were trained to use the Sports Ministry training they received in their communities.  They all received Bibles, printed in Portuguese and pamphlets. We only have 1 000 pamphlets of the original 4000 printed left - Hallelujah.

There were approximately 600 primary school children that participated in the games and received the gospel message. On the way back to the B&B, Tiras stopped in at the Athletes Village and met with his Mentor from Kenya, Solomon Gacece and appreciated the time he could spend with him.
